Abstract
In this talk, I will present my recent work on secure two-party computation for matrix multiplication and its application to encrypted control. The proposed protocol computes the product of fixed-point matrices at the desired precision in a single communication round. Built on Learning With Errors (LWE) encryption and Short Integer Solution (SIS) commitment, its security is guaranteed against semi-honest parties under the standard LWE assumption. Furthermore, this protocol enables encrypted control that is a framework for securely outsourcing controller computation. Unlike existing encrypted control approaches, the proposed method truly reduces the client’s online computational complexity while concealing the controller inputs, outputs, and feedback gain.
Bio
Kaoru Teranishi is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Information and Physical Sciences, Graduate School of Information Science and Technology, The University of Osaka. He received the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in mechanical and intelligent systems engineering from the University of Electro-Communications, Tokyo, Japan, in 2021 and 2024, respectively. From 2019 to 2020, he was a Visiting Scholar at the Georgia Institute of Technology, GA, USA. From 2021 to 2024, he was a Research Fellow at the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS), Tokyo, Japan. From 2024 to 2025, he was a JSPS Overseas Research Fellow. During this period, he was a Postdoctoral Research Affiliate at The University of Texas at Austin, TX, USA, and a Visiting Scholar/Post-Doctoral Research Associate at Purdue University, IN, USA. His research interests include control theory and cryptography for control systems security.
