Dr. G. Q. Bao Tran visited CDSL

Dr. Gia Quoc Bao Tran, visited CDSL as a Postdoctorial Research Associate from May to August 2025. He received the Ph.D. in Mathematics and Automatic Control at the Centre Automatique et Systèmes of Mines Paris – PSL.

His primary research interests are hybrid systems and observer design for hybrid systems. During his visiting, he gave a seminar titled ‘Gluing KKL Observer for Hybrid Systems with Unknown Jump Times’.

In this seminar, Dr. Tran presented a method for designing the KKL observer for hybrid systems, which was inspired by the ‘gluing function’, a control theory for hybrid systems developed in CDSL. He first introduced the notion of the gluing function and KKL observer, then integrated these notions to design an observer for the hybrid systems, with some theoretical details and applications to stiction model. More information on his research can be found here.

Hybrid systems are currently a topic of great interest for researchers of CDSL and, therefore, we were highly motivated by Dr. Tran’s seminar and research. We had a great time with him during his visit and appreciate him sharing his research. We hope for future collaborations on research and active interaction.
