Prof. Sutrisno Sutrisno of the Department of Mathematics at Universitas Diponegoro, Indonesia, visited CDSL. He delivered a seminar under the title of ‘Singular Switched Systems in Discrete Time: Recent Solution Theory and Open Problems’. Prof. Sutrisno’s research focuses on mathematical modeling, systems&sontrol, and mathematical optimization.
In this seminar, he presented his recent work on investigating the solvability and various properties (observability, controllability, and stability) of discrete-time singular linear switched systems (SLSS). Various research on nonsingular switched linear system was conducted at 1970s but SLSS is still an ongoing research field, for which existence and uniqueness of the solution are still being unclarified at various results. Prof. Sutrisno established sufficient conditions, denoted as `sequentially index-1′ and `switched index-1′ conditions, under which the existence and the uniqueness of the solution of SLSS with arbitrary switching signals are guaranteed. The proposed sufficient conditions are shown to be less restrictive than the existing `jointly index-1′ condition. Moreover, prof. Sustrino remarked that designing observers and preserving security of SLSS has been introduced as an open problem to be solved.
Since CDSL has been researching on providing theoretical guarantees on the existence and the uniqueness of the solution for a given control system, it was an insightful time to discuss the topic that prof. Sutrisno has been working on. We thank prof. Sutrisno for sharing the great talk and we expect collaboration with CDSL in the near future.
